True story:

One morning before work, I was telling my ECE partner (Ontario kindergarten classes are staffed with a teacher and a Registered Early Childhood Educator) about two books I had reread over the weekend because I love them so much: Ruth Soukup’s 31 Days To a Clutter-Free Life and 31 Days of Living Well and Spending Zero. Regular readers know that clutter is the bane of my existence, and I am actually very careful with money, saving where I can and splurging where I wish, and Sarah is quite similar.

Yet somehow, in the next breath, we decided to order a subscription box together!

Well, I know how it happened: we moved on to talking about how someone we both know had shown some subscription box goodies on Instagram that weekend, and how those boxes are risky because you probably wouldn’t use everything…but wait, what if you split a box with someone? Then you’re only spending half the money, and you could divvy the items up so everyone gets things that they want. What a great idea!

By the end of morning recess we had signed up for a year of FabFitFun! There were a few items that we were able to customize, plus a few surprises to look forward to – or to look up online, if you’re not good with surprises. (Me.)

Our first box arrived this week, and we unboxed it before the students arrived. Because we started our subscription between seasons, we received the Editor’s Box. (Next up will be Summer, Fall and Winter.) Here’s what we got:

Sarah chose the Summer & Rose striped tote ($54), tarte Double Duty Beauty eyeshadow palette ($30), Homemade by Ayesha Curry “I’d Rather Be in Bed” Ceramic Mug ($16) and the Briogeo Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask ($30), shown above along with my goodies as well.

I selected the Grace & Stella Bath Bombs ($16), Kate Somerville ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment ($75), Free People x Understated Leather Starry Eyed Travel Mask ($40) and Daily Concepts Hair Towel Wrap ($18).

Now, technically we have already earned our money back in terms of product value. However, would I really have spent $75 for a small tube of exfoliating cream? Likely not. That said, it’s certainly a fun splurge – and a neat thing to do with a friend who I see every day. I’m already excited to find out what the Summer FabFitFun box has to offer!

Note: If you are interested in FabFitFun, as a subscriber I have the opportunity to send 5 friends a “Starter Box” – you only pay the shipping (about $10). Each box is valued at over $75 and comes with 3-4 full size, premium products so you can get a taste of what the boxes are like. The only catch is that after 21 days you are auto-enrolled in the membership, so if you decide you don’t want to commit to a subscription you do have to take a moment to cancel it before it kicks in. If you want to try it, just email me (katewinn77 at yahoo dot ca) and I will enter your email address so you can get started! (I will update this post when the 5 spots have been taken.) UPDATE: All of our starter boxes have been spoken for!

If you know you want to try FabFitFun (you can do a single box first just to be sure), please follow this link to get $10 off! (I will get a credit as well – we both win!)
