My last “yard duty” boots were purchased when I began teaching…in 2000. Perhaps they were trendy then (I’m not too worried about small children judging my outdoor attire anyway), and they did keep my feet warm, so it was actually quite frugal of me to use them for this long.
That said, the time had come this year for a new pair of winter boots…and don’t ask me why, but I didn’t start my search at SportChek. I should have learned my lesson after my eyes were opened to their great back-to-school gear for kids, but I still associated SportChek with sports…until I finally found the perfect pair of boots on their website! (It took a while to choose…there’s quite an extensive selection.)
Not only were they kind enough to send me a pair, but Liv (with her ever-growing feet) also had a chance to pick some out too. Would you believe that (without realizing it) we chose the exact same style, only in the women’s and girls’ versions? (She is certainly my mini-me…except for the musical talents. And the sewing. And knitting. Okay, she’s me, but with a lot more talent.)
We’ve been wearing our black Sorel Joan of Arctic boots for a couple of weeks now, and I am so thrilled with them. They’re waterproof, with mine rated up to -32 degree Celsius (as if I would voluntarily be outside at that temperature, lol) and Liv’s to -40! I can’t believe how cozy and warm they feel, and I know it shouldn’t matter, but they are super stylish too! I hated wearing my old ones out in public, and now I’d be happy to be seen out-and-about with these babies on my feet. I might even complain less about going out in winter (just as I did when I bought my North Face parka from SportChek a few years ago)!
You know you want to upgrade your winter boots, and whether you want to or not, you know you have to buy your kids warm boots that fit. Because last year’s won’t. Maybe not even the ones you bought two months ago! Check out the great selection and prices from SportChek!
Disclosure: We were provided with these boots for review purposes. Opinions are, as always, my own.
I actually never thought of Sport Chek! We are having a hard time finding boots my fussy child likes!.
