To celebrate Eva’s 9th birthday, Glama Gals generously offered to let her bring a friend for their “My First Day at the Spa” experience…and they had a blast!
Eva had been Googling kids’ spas in advance of her birthday, and Glama Gals was her pick. We visited the Ajax spa (there are several more locations), and from the moment we entered the girls were in heaven.
Their one-hour experience began with a cupcake and pink lemonade:
Next it was on to the pedicure, with a little soak (including a bath bomb) and scrub, followed by polish of their choice.
As they waited for their toenails to dry, they were given a cute little cup of ice cream with sprinkles.
Again for the manicure they were treated to a bath bomb soak and scrub, then polish. (Tip: fingernails and toenails get polish but no other work, so I suggest a little trim/file before you come so nails are polish-ready)
Finally, they had their choice of chocolate or banana mask, and a few minutes to sit back and enjoy with cucumber slices over their eyes before the mask was wiped away with a warm cloth.
On the way out they were allowed to choose a large bath bomb to take home and enjoy. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and both girls had nothing but positive things to say about it!
I want to mention that before making a spa appointment for my little girl, I did stop to reflect on the values I want to pass on to her. Never do I want my children to think that life is about outer beauty, but as many of us know, that’s not really the point of a spa, especially for kids (Glama Gals’ tagline: “Be Positive! Be Confident! Be You!”) Sure, they got their nails done, but they also got some extra attention and time to relax on a Saturday morning…believe it or not, my nine-year-old works pretty hard throughout the week and deserves some downtime! It was also a way to bond with a friend, and to feel special for her birthday.
Group birthday parties are also extremely popular at Glama Gals, and they had five booked on the day we visited.
