#TBT This cute family shot was taken in ‘79 at T #TBT This cute family shot was taken in ‘79 at The Roy Studio in Peterborough. (I am told that leading up to the photo I was much less pleased than it would appear.) It’s neat to think that about 30 years earlier (in ‘47 and ‘51) both sets of my grandparents had their wedding photos taken at that very studio, and 40 years later (just this past March) I was back there with my girls for Liv’s birthday party photo shoot (the business no longer exists but @maryzitapaynephotography had rented the space). And that, my friends, is my Throwback Thursday, The Roy Studio edition.
Today is Eva’s Mommy/Daughter Day and she planne Today is Eva’s Mommy/Daughter Day and she planned it out perfectly: Stops at Fabricland and the dollar store for scrunchie making supplies (swipe to see materials for the next summer collection - her goal this time was to pick nice soft fabrics in bright colours) Scrunchie dropoff for her lovely Aunt @ashleighleahy09 Lunch on Riley’s rooftop patio (I would recommend the pulled pork sandwich) Pick up treats and come home to watch The Princess Diaries on Disney+ (we signed up just for one month in order to watch Hamilton!) I was given permission to be on my phone just long enough to post this - now back to our movie!

You know I love when my "stuff" has a story, and t You know I love when my "stuff" has a story, and this is a good one. Many years ago, my Grandma Cooper gave me a set of four dessert plates, with a pink rose and silver leaf pattern. I loved them because they're beautiful - plus pink and silver had been our wedding colours - but also because they had been a 50th anniversary gift for her own parents and her mother was Celestia, from whom I get my middle name. A couple of weeks ago, my eagle-eyed Aunt Sue @ruralroutetwo called me on my cell. I worried at first that something was wrong (who calls anyone on the phone anymore?) but it was actually fun news: she had spotted a set of eight place settings of dinner plates, side plates and small bowls of the exact same pattern at Value Village...for twenty bucks! Did I want her to pick them up? Uh, yes please! I've done a bit more research since and learned that they are a vintage Johnson Brothers design from the 60s called Rhapsody and that the trim is platinum...and any resale site I saw had one dinner plate alone listed for more than the twenty bucks we paid for the whole set! Long story short - these beautiful dishes were a great deal with some meaningful family twists. And I find takeout looks great on them!
Olivia baked and decorated these cookies for her G Olivia baked and decorated these cookies for her Great Grandma’s 87th birthday and I was very impressed! She and Eva took a cookie decorating class from @enticingcakesinc (a Christmas gift from my parents) a few months ago and loved working with the flood icing. Liv has been inspired to try more and spent most of yesterday afternoon working on these. They were well-received by the birthday lady during our visit today! (Her name is Zelda, in case you wondered about the Z!)
