Drew and Jonathan Scott, perhaps better known as the Property Brothers, have found time in their busy schedules to add a children’s book to their repertoires!

Jam packed with meaningful messages…” (Hello! Canada) BUILDER BROTHERS: BIG PLANS is a heartwarming picture book for the tactile and curious reader (ages 4-8). The story is about two brothers who are determined to build something big. A treehouse? A castle? A catapult? They have a whole lot of big ideas! But no one, not even the grownups, think they can do it. They brainstorm, sketch out designs, and tinker until they have the perfect plan – a doubledecker dog house for their two dogs, Gracie and Stewie. But what will the brothers do when their big plans don’t go exactly as they had hoped?

With charming illustrations by Canadian illustrator Kim Smith, BUILDER BROTHERS: BIG PLANS includes an original do-it-yourself project that parents and kids can tackle together.
Here’s what Drew & Jonathan have to say about the new book!
Why a children’s book?

We’ve always been amazed at how many kids enjoy our shows. Who would’ve thought that four and five-year-olds would love real estate and design programming. So Jonathan and I felt it was a natural fit to create a children’s series that brings to light some of the adventures we had as young go getters.

What’s your favorite part of the book?

Definitely our favorite part is at the end of the book where we’ve incorporated an actual hands on project that parents or teachers can partake in with children.

Thoughts on your younger, animated self?

We have never looked so cute! Lol. Our Illustrator has definitely captured our young fun-loving personalities.

What will young readers and parents enjoy about the book?

It’s a fun read but there are also a few great lessons. We are stronger when we work together. And that you never “fail” if you learn from it and keep trying.

What was your inspiration?

Our fans are our inspiration. It means the world to us that we get to do what we do every day and help so many people’s dreams become a reality. And the fact that we get to work with family every day is the icing on top.

What were your favorite books when you were kids?

There were so many. Curious George, the Hungry Caterpillar, Where the Wild Things Are, Dr. Seuss. The list could go on and on. Mainly we loved stories that made us dream. That made us think outside the box. Anything is possible if you believe it’s possible.

Did you enjoy building things when you were kids?  What’s the craziest thing you tried to build?

We LOVED building anything and everything. From bird houses, to magic tricks. I remember we also built a fort when we were around 10. But we included trap doors and secret compartments. The sky was the limit with our imagination.

What’s the most important thing your parents taught you?

If someone says you can’t do something, find 5 ways to do it.

What’s your favorite childhood memory?

On special occasions our family would get together for an amazing home cooked meal. We would help our mom prep the meal and then after dessert (pumpkin pie and our mom’s secret mint dessert recipe) we would play board games and charades. This was a tradition we loved.

*****

I would definitely recommend you add BUILDER BROTHERS: BIG PLANS to your child’s (or classroom) bookshelf!
