It’s time to reflect back on our first year with Netflix and share some of our top picks!

(Note that these weren’t all necessarily produced or added to Netflix in 2017, but are all shows we enjoyed throughout the year.)

Kate:

Suits: Okay, I started watching because of Meghan Markle, but it’s a really great show…and I love that it’s filmed in Toronto!

Homeland: If you’re into CIA anti-terrorism type dramas, this show is for you. Can’t wait for the next season to be added!

The Crown: As I write this, I’m just starting Season 2 of the Netflix original and not loving it quite as much as the first season which absolutely blew me away. I will hang in there, though!

How To Get Away With Murder: Shonda Rimes delivers again with this legal drama full of twisted plotlines. We binge-watched the first three seasons and are looking forward to number 4.

The Good Wife: I had never seen a minute of this critically-acclaimed series until I started watching on Netflix this past spring, and I made it through seven seasons of the political/legal drama in record time.

House of Cards: After so many recommendations, we actually watched the first couple of seasons of this show by purchasing the DVDs…not at all a financially-savvy decision when a subscription to Netflix is so much cheaper! We continued watching the next couple of seasons on Netflix, and I’m intrigued now to see what they’re going to do with the sixth and final season, now that they’re going to refocus on Robin Wright’s character, following sexual assault allegations against star Kevin Spacey.

Olivia (11) and Eva (9) agreed on their picks:

Full House: I don’t need to describe this one, right?

Fuller House: The child stars are now grown and this Netflix original reboot is very popular.

Project MC2: Four super-smart teens band together to use their science skills to save the day.

Once Upon a Time: This is a really neat family drama where the fairy-tale world and modern world collide. I actually watched several episodes with the kids until we realized that they weren’t going to be able to watch nearly as quickly if they had to wait for me to watch each episode with them…so they have continued on and absolutely love it.

Of course we also watched a ton of movies on Netflix, both old favourites and new releases too!

What’s not on this list that you think the girls or I would like? We’re always looking for new recommendations!!

Disclosure: I receive perks as a member of the Netflix Stream Team. Opinions are, as always, my own.
