Born in Manila, Philippines and raised in Canada, Carlos Bustamante has leapt at every opportunity to entertain his audience, literally dangling off the CN Tower, bobsledding down an Olympic track, and nervously hopping into a cage with a 700 pound tiger. As former host of Canada’s favourite after-school program The Zone on YTV, Carlos was no stranger to the spotlight when he joined ET Canada in September 2017 as an Entertainment Reporter.

While you can find an abundance of Momterviews here on my site, we’re long overdue for a great Dadterview, so here is my Q & A with Carlos!

In your short time at ET Canada, you’ve already interviewed some big names! Any favourite interview or anecdote from your celebrity experiences so far?

I recently did a one-on-one sit down interview with Dolly Parton! It was wild just being in the same room as her. I had been told she was nice but she is honestly one of the sweetest and most generous person I had the privilege of interviewing. She’s very funny and whip-smart. Such an icon!

You’ve said yes to many daring adventures for television like dangling off the CN Tower and getting into a cage with a 700 pound tiger. Have you ever said no to anything? Is there anything that scares you so much you wouldn’t do it?

I can’t really think of anything! I’m always down for an adventure. Honestly though, now that I’ve got two kids I shudder every time I think about that day in the tiger cage. I’d probably turn that one down if asked again!

What can you tell us about your wife and kids?

My wife Rachel is the most wonderful woman. We’ve known each other since we were kids and have been dating since high school. We have a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter who are an absolute blast! They are constantly dancing, playing music, singing and telling us jokes. The most fun I have in life is with those two.

Because my blog is called This Mom Loves, I always ask my interviewees how they would finish the sentence, “This mom loves…” but in your case it’s “This dad loves…”!

This dad loves seeing the world. Travel was a big part of my childhood. When I was five years old my dad and I drove his little two seater roadster from Calgary (where we lived at the time) to Vancouver to visit my grandmother. As a family we would take road trips almost every year across Canada and the U.S. Now that I have a family of my own I’m looking forward to taking them all over the world and showing my kids different environments and cultures!

Thanks, Carlos!
